In April 2026, the Ivorian Government adopted several implementing decrees of the Labor Code. Among the eleven announced texts, two developments are of particular interest for companies' HSE management: the terms for executing the employer's obligation to provide an occupational health service for workers, and the new general hygiene measures in the workplace. These texts help strengthen the regulatory framework applicable to occupational risk prevention and worker health protection.
Decree n° 2026-206 of April 15, 2026
The decree specifies the terms for executing employers' obligation to provide an occupational health service for their workers. This development aims in particular to strengthen:
- The prevention of occupational risks
- The monitoring of workers' health
- The organization of occupational health within companies
Hygiene and working conditions
A new decree on general hygiene measures in the workplace was also adopted as part of the implementation of the Labor Code. This reform updates the framework applicable to hygiene conditions in workplaces and reinforces the importance of preventing risks related to the professional environment.
Safety and health in mines
During the first half of 2026, Côte d'Ivoire also adopted a decree ratifying International Labour Organization Convention n° 176 on safety and health in mines.
